About This Tool
Why use Age Difference Calculator?
Enter two dates and this calculator returns the gap between them in years, months and days, plus the totals in months, weeks and days. It works for two people's birthdays or for any pair of dates, and the order does not matter — the earlier date is detected automatically.
For 12 June 1995 and 3 September 1998 the difference is 3 years, 2 months and 22 days, which is 38 months, 168 weeks or 1,179 days. The totals are useful when a form or a contract counts in whole days or weeks rather than calendar years.
Key Benefits
Both calendar and total units
Years-months-days for people, and total days or weeks for paperwork and project maths.
Order does not matter
Enter the dates either way round; the result is always the positive gap.
Accurate across leap years
Real calendar arithmetic, so February and month lengths are handled correctly.

Age Difference Calculator FAQs
How do I calculate the difference between two dates?
Count whole years first, then whole months, then the remaining days. Counting days alone and dividing by 365 gives a slightly different answer because month and year lengths vary.
Why do the total months and the years-and-months figure differ?
They describe the same gap in different units. Three years and two months is the same as 38 months.
Does it include both end dates?
The count is the elapsed time from the first date to the second, so the start day is not counted as a full day.
Can I use it for future dates?
Yes. Any two dates work, past or future, which makes it useful for planning as well as looking back.
