About This Tool

Why use Meta Tag Generator?

Fill in a title, description, keywords and author, and this generator produces the meta tags to paste into the <head> of your page, including Open Graph and Twitter Card tags for link previews.

Two of these fields matter most. The title is the clickable line in search results and should be roughly 50–60 characters; the description does not affect ranking but does affect click-through, and is usually truncated around 155 characters. The keywords meta tag has been ignored by Google since 2009 and is included only for completeness.

Key Benefits

Open Graph and Twitter tags included

The tags that control how your link appears when shared on social platforms and in chat apps.

Ready to paste

Correctly formatted meta elements, not a checklist to assemble by hand.

Consistent across tag sets

The same title and description are applied to the standard, Open Graph and Twitter tags.

Meta Tag Generator FAQs

How long should a title tag be?

Around 50–60 characters, or about 580 pixels. Longer titles are truncated in search results, though the full text is still read by search engines.

Does the meta description affect rankings?

Not directly. It often becomes the snippet under your title, so a clear description improves click-through — and Google may replace it with text from the page if that matches the query better.

Are meta keywords still worth adding?

No. Google has ignored the keywords meta tag since 2009. It does no harm, but it does nothing for ranking either.

Why does my link preview show the wrong image?

The og:image tag is missing, points to a file that cannot be fetched, or the platform has cached an older version. Add an absolute URL and re-scrape the page with the platform's debugging tool.
