About This Tool
Why use File to ZIP?
Bundle several files into one ZIP archive. Add whatever you like — documents, images, spreadsheets, anything — and JSZip packs and compresses them in your browser into a single .zip you can download and send.
ZIP exists because sending fifteen attachments is not the same as sending one. Mail clients drop some, recipients miss others, and shared folders lose the ordering. One archive arrives intact, opens natively on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android with nothing installed, and is usually smaller than the sum of its parts — documents, text and spreadsheets compress substantially, though photos and video barely move because they are compressed already.
Key Benefits
Any file type
Documents, images, spreadsheets and binaries all go into the same archive without needing conversion first.
Opens everywhere
ZIP is handled natively by Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android, so the recipient needs nothing installed.
Nothing is uploaded
Files are compressed in your browser, so an archive of work documents is never sent to a third-party service.

File to ZIP FAQs
How much smaller will the archive be?
It depends on the content. Documents, text, spreadsheets and code often compress by 50 to 90 per cent. Photos, video and audio are already compressed, so they barely shrink — the benefit there is having one file rather than many.
Can I password-protect the archive?
No. This tool creates a standard ZIP without encryption. If the contents are sensitive, use a desktop archiver that supports AES encryption.
Is there a limit on how many files I can add?
No fixed limit. Everything is held in memory while the archive is built, so very large sets are bounded by your browser's available memory.
Will folder structure be preserved?
Files are added by name at the top level of the archive. To keep a folder structure, zip it with your operating system's own archiver instead.
