About This Tool
Why use Work Hours Calculator?
Enter your hours per day, days per week, working weeks per year and hourly rate, and this calculator returns weekly, monthly and annual hours alongside the matching pay. A standard full-time year of 8 hours × 5 days × 52 weeks is 2,080 hours.
The working-weeks field is what makes the figure realistic. Take four weeks of unpaid leave and the year becomes 48 weeks and 1,920 hours, which at £20 an hour is £38,400 rather than £41,600. Monthly figures divide the year by 12, so they are an average: actual months contain four or five pay periods depending on the calendar.
Key Benefits
Hours and pay together
The same inputs produce both, so you can see what a change in schedule is worth.
Unpaid leave handled
Lowering the working weeks shows the real annual figure, not the headline one.
Three periods at once
Weekly, monthly and annual, which covers budgeting, invoicing and job comparisons.

Work Hours Calculator FAQs
How many work hours are in a year?
2,080 for a standard 40-hour week across 52 weeks. With two weeks unpaid it is 2,000, and at 37.5 hours a week it is 1,950.
How do I convert an hourly rate to an annual salary?
Multiply by the hours you actually work: rate × hours per week × working weeks. At £18 an hour, 37.5 hours and 52 weeks that is £35,100.
Why are monthly hours not a whole number?
Because the year is divided by 12. Months vary in length, so the monthly figure is an average rather than what any single month contains.
Are these figures before or after tax?
Before tax. For take-home pay, use the paycheck or take-home pay calculators for your country.
