About This Tool

Why use SVG to PNG?

Render an SVG into a PNG bitmap. The vector file is drawn by the browser's own SVG engine and captured as a PNG, so shapes, paths, gradients and transparency all come out exactly as they appear on screen.

The output size comes from the SVG itself: its width and height attributes are used if it has them, its viewBox if it does not, and 1024 x 1024 as a last resort when the file declares neither. That last case is worth knowing about — a lot of icon SVGs carry only a viewBox, and some carry nothing at all. If you need a specific size, set width and height on the SVG before converting. Remember this is a one-way trip: the PNG is a fixed grid of pixels and will blur if scaled up, which is exactly what the SVG never did.

Key Benefits

Transparency preserved

The canvas is cleared before rendering, so the areas your SVG leaves empty stay transparent in the PNG rather than turning white.

Size read from the file

Width and height attributes are used first, then the viewBox, so the PNG comes out at the size the SVG actually declares.

Rendered by the browser

The same engine that draws the SVG on a web page renders it here, so gradients, strokes and text look as expected.

How to use SVG to PNG

  1. 1

    Select the .svg file.

  2. 2

Check that it declares a width and height, or at least a viewBox, if you care about the output size.

  3. 3

Convert; the browser renders the vector and captures it as PNG.

  4. 4

Download the PNG with its transparency intact.

Best use cases

Provide a logo to someone whose software cannot open SVG.

Get a raster icon for an app, a favicon set or a store listing.

Put a vector diagram into a document or presentation.

Produce an image for a platform that blocks SVG uploads for security reasons.

SVG to PNG FAQs

What size will the PNG be?

It follows the SVG's own width and height attributes. If those are missing it uses the viewBox, and if the file declares neither it falls back to 1024 x 1024.

How do I get a larger PNG?

Edit the SVG's width and height attributes to the size you want before converting. Because the source is vector, rendering larger costs nothing in quality.

Is the background transparent?

Yes, wherever the SVG itself is transparent. The canvas is cleared before rendering, so empty areas stay empty in the PNG.

Can I convert the PNG back to a real SVG?

Not meaningfully. Rasterising discards the paths and shapes; they cannot be recovered from pixels. Keep the SVG as your master file.
