About This Tool
Why use Angle Converter?
Convert between degrees, radians, gradians, arcminutes and arcseconds. A full circle is 360 degrees, 2π radians or 400 gradians, and each degree divides into 60 arcminutes of 60 arcseconds.
Radians are the unit of choice in mathematics and programming because they make calculus and trigonometry simpler: π/2 rad is 90°, π rad is 180°. Arcminutes and arcseconds appear in navigation, surveying and astronomy, where one arcsecond is about 1/3600 of a degree.
Key Benefits
Five angle units
Degrees, radians, gradians, arcminutes and arcseconds in one converter.
Radian conversions for coding
JavaScript, Python and most graphics libraries expect radians, which this converts to directly.
Fine precision
Results keep six decimal places, enough for surveying and astronomy work.
How to use Angle Converter
- 1
Choose the unit you have and the unit you need.
- 2
Enter the angle value.
- 3
Read the converted result, rounded to six decimal places.
- 4
Swap the units to convert back.
Best use cases
Convert degrees to radians for a trigonometry function in code.
Read coordinates given in degrees, minutes and seconds.
Convert survey angles between gradians and degrees.
Check an angle in a CAD or engineering drawing.
Angle Converter FAQs
How do I convert degrees to radians?
Multiply by π ÷ 180. So 90° is 1.5708 rad and 180° is π rad.
How do I convert radians to degrees?
Multiply by 180 ÷ π. One radian is about 57.2958°.
What is a gradian?
One four-hundredth of a full circle, so a right angle is exactly 100 gradians. It is used mainly in surveying in parts of Europe.
What are arcminutes and arcseconds?
Subdivisions of a degree: 1° = 60 arcminutes and 1 arcminute = 60 arcseconds. They are used for coordinates and for very small angles in astronomy.
