About This Tool
Why use PDF to Excel?
Pull tables out of a PDF into a spreadsheet. The tool reads each page with pdf.js, groups the text items by their vertical position to reconstruct rows, and writes one worksheet per PDF page into a real .xlsx file. If a page has no detectable row structure, its text is written into a single cell rather than dropped.
This works best on PDFs generated from a spreadsheet or a database — bank statements, price lists, exported reports — where the numbers sit in clean rows. Merged cells, footnotes and multi-line rows can land in the wrong place, so treat the result as a fast head start you tidy up in Excel, not as a finished import. A scanned statement has no text to read and will come out empty.
Key Benefits
One sheet per page
Each PDF page becomes its own worksheet named Page 1, Page 2 and so on, so a long statement stays organised.
Rows rebuilt from position
Text is grouped by where it sits on the page, which recovers row structure that a plain copy-paste loses completely.
Financial data stays private
Bank statements and invoices are parsed in your browser, so they are never uploaded to a conversion service.
How to use PDF to Excel
- 1
Select the PDF containing the tables you need.
- 2
Convert, and wait while each page is read and turned into a worksheet.
- 3
Download the .xlsx file and open it in Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice Calc.

PDF to Excel FAQs
How accurate is the table detection?
Rows are inferred from where text sits vertically on the page, which is reliable for clean, machine-generated tables. Merged cells, wrapped text and multi-column layouts can shift columns, so check the output against the PDF.
Why did my scanned PDF produce an empty file?
A scan is an image. There is no text to read, so nothing can be extracted. Run OCR on the file first to add a text layer, then convert.
What format is the download?
A standard .xlsx workbook, which opens in Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice Calc and Numbers.
Are my numbers sent to a server?
No. The PDF is parsed and the workbook written in your browser, so financial data never leaves your device.
