About This Tool

Why use Age Calculator?

Enter a date of birth and this calculator returns the exact age in years, months and days as of today. It counts calendar months rather than averaging them, so the day-of-month is preserved: someone born on 15 March 1990 turns a whole number of years every 15 March, and the months and days count forward from there.

Leap years are handled by the calendar itself, so ages spanning 29 February come out right. Official forms almost always ask for age in completed years, which is the first figure shown — the months and days are for the cases where precision matters, such as school admission cut-offs or medical records for young children.

Key Benefits

Leap years handled

Nothing leaves your browser

The date you enter is used on your device only; no birth date is uploaded or stored.

Age Calculator FAQs

How is age calculated exactly?

Subtract the birth year from the current year, then adjust: if the birthday has not happened yet this year, take one year off and count the months and days that have passed since the last birthday.

How do leap year birthdays work?

Someone born on 29 February gains a year on 28 February or 1 March in common years, depending on local convention. The completed-years figure is the same either way except on that one day.

Why does my age in months look different elsewhere?

Some tools convert days to months by dividing by 30 or 30.44. This calculator counts real calendar months, which is what official forms expect.

Can I calculate age at a past or future date?

This tool measures against today. For a different reference date, use the age difference calculator and enter both dates.
