About This Tool
Why use Discount Calculator?
Enter the original price and the discount percentage and this calculator returns the final price and the amount you save. The maths is simple — saving = price × discount ÷ 100 — but it is easy to get wrong in a shop, especially with awkward percentages.
A £249 jacket at 35% off saves £87.15 and costs £161.85. For stacked discounts, apply them one after another rather than adding them: 20% then a further 10% is 28% off in total, not 30%, because the second discount comes off the already reduced price.

Both numbers at once, which is what you need to judge whether a deal is worth it.

Any currency

Discount Calculator FAQs
How do I calculate a discount?
Multiply the price by the discount percentage and divide by 100 for the saving, then subtract it. Or multiply the price by (100 − discount) ÷ 100 to get the final price directly.
How do stacked discounts work?
They apply one after another. 20% off followed by 10% off leaves 0.8 × 0.9 = 0.72 of the price, which is 28% off in total.
How do I find the original price from a sale price?
Divide the sale price by (100 − discount) ÷ 100. A £60 item at 25% off was £60 ÷ 0.75 = £80.
Is the discount applied before or after tax?
Normally before. In the US, sales tax is charged on the discounted price; where VAT or GST is included in the shelf price, the discount already covers it.
