This final grade calculator tells you the score you need on your final exam to finish the course with the overall grade you want, given your current grade and how much the final is worth.
Example: you currently have 88% and the final is worth 25% of the course. Your existing work locks in 88% × 75% = 66 percentage points. To reach 90% overall you need the final to supply the remaining 24 points out of a possible 25, which means scoring 96%. To hold on to a B at 80%, you only need 56%.

How do I calculate what I need on my final exam?
Subtract the points your existing work already contributes from your target, then divide by the exam's weight. With 88% going into a final worth 25%, existing work supplies 66 points; reaching 90% requires 24 more from a 25-point exam, so you need 96%.
What if the calculator says I need more than 100%?
The target is no longer reachable through the final alone. Check whether extra credit, a dropped lowest score or a curve applies, and otherwise recalculate against the next grade down so you know what you are genuinely protecting.
What if I need a negative score?
It means your grade is already secured — even a zero on the final leaves you at or above the target. Do not read that as permission to skip the exam, since many courses require a minimum exam score or attendance to pass regardless of the arithmetic.
Where do I find my final exam weighting?
It is in your course syllabus, usually in a grading breakdown listing each component and its percentage. If the syllabus gives points rather than percentages, divide the exam's points by the total points available in the course.
